Subject(s): Summary: "In collecting, under the title of Album de la Comédie-Française, the portraits and biographical notices of all ist present sociétaires, the authors' intention is, to present only faithful likenesses and authentic biographies. The signature which will be found below each portrait proves that the artists actually posed before the eminent engraver, M. E. Abot, whose admirable execution of these aquafortis cannot fail to be appreciated. Moreover, the valuable share which M. Febvre has taken in this work, shows that the elements of our biographies, and the details respecting the organisation of the Théâtre-Français had been derived from the best sources." -- Préface
