Sarsuela en dos actes

Composta el 1786

Llibret de Ramón de la Cruz

Inclou prefaci, sinopsis, i comentari crític en italià, anglès i alemany

"As is well known, Clementina is the only zarzuela that Boccherini composed and one of his few works for the theatre. It is striking that, despite his prolonged stay in Spain, this zarzuela and the villancio G 539 (which survives incomplete) represent the composer's only attempts at composing in strictly Spanish genres. This was so probably because the zarzuela were difficult to sell on the European musical market with which Boccherini was so familiar, even though Clementina is nevertheless replete with Italian-influenced elements. This explains why both works resulted from very specific commissions and accounts for their limited circulation [...] The exceptional nature of Clementina in Boccherini's output, coupled with the fact that the composer did not assign it an opues number, explains why it does not appear in any of his autograph catalogues." (pàgina[xix])
