<br/><br/> "In the fall of 1956, the Bolshoi Ballet embarked on an historic first-ever tour of Great Britain. Thanks to the vision and dedication of film producer and director Paul Czinner, two complete programs given by the company during this tour were preserved on film. They are a Bolshoi Highlights Program featuring Raisa Struchkova in the Walpurgisnacht from Gounod's Faust, and Galina Ulanova in The Dying Swan; and a trhrilling performance of Giselles with Ulanova and Nikloai Fadeyechev. Also included in the Highlights Program is the celebrated Spring Water pas de deux, set to music by Rachmaninoff and danced with dazzling virtuosity by L. Bogomolova and S.Vlasova. In short, Czinner's keen artistic sense and desire to capture "as fully as possible the excitement of a live performance" make The Bolshoi Ballet one of the most important ballet films evere made" -- Contracoberta.
