"This film contains the presentation given at the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva, by trainee teachers for the Royal Northern College of Music and their teacher Karin Greenhead (Director of Studies UK). The presentation demonstrates the application of general movement and Dalcroze techniques to the teaching of string playing and musicianship, incorporating exercices inspired by Sheila Nelson. It covers pre-instrumental training for the very young through the first year of instrumental study to applications in the teaching of bowing techniques for more advanced players. The film also contains a realisation of a piece of musical repertoire in movement (Plastique Animee). Karin Greenhead's innovative "Dynamic Rehearsal" is also demonstrated with a solo violist and a string quartet. Here, the Dalcroze principles are applied to the rehearsal and performance of concert repertoire" -- Contenidor
