"This double disc features Dalcroze principles being applied in settings beyond typical musical training form children or music students. Disc one features classes taught y Bethan Habron-James (Dalcroze Licenciate) at a primary school for children with learning difficulties. Bethan has been deliveringsessions in the school form many years and her work there has elicited fascinating and awe-inspiring results. The disc contains two complete classes with children of different ages and abilities, all within the autistic spectrum. Also included on the disc is an interview with Bethab and one of the regular teachers at the school. With references to the classes shown they discuss the benefits of Dalcroze for autistic children, and what considerations there may be when planning and delivering classes. Disc two features a complete class delivered by Professor Ruth Giannada to seniors at ghe Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva, Switzerland during the 2007 congress. Ruth has been teaching seniors for many years and is engaged in joint reserach with Reto Kressing MD, Department of Rehabilitation and Geriatrics Geneva University Hospitals, on the benefits of eurhythmics training for seniors. The participants in the class are non-musicians aged between 65 and 85. The focus is to improve mobility in order to prevent falling while also increasing cognitive and emotional well-being.
